Computer Science (CSC2)
"Computer science is the operating system for all innovation" Steve Ballmer
What will I learn?
In Computer Science, you will learn how to apply advanced processes to develop digital technologies outcomes. You will build two digital outcomes during the year - the first project (Term 1) will usually be a website, using HTML, CSS and JavaScript (media outcome). The second project will be an advanced computer program using Python, and will take two terms to complete.
How will this course be assessed?
You will be assessed against the internal Achievement Standards listed below, for the two projects you complete. There is also one external Achievement Standard at the end of the year - which is effectively a summary of the work you have done while completing either of the two projects.
Will there be any FAO? (Further Assessment Opportunities)
A further assessment opportunity will NOT be available as all assessments are projects based and will be completed over a period of time with several checkpoints on the way.
What should I have already achieved?
Ideally you have have some experience with either Digital Programming or Digital Media at Level 1 and have gained NCEA Level 1 Literacy.
You will need to have the willingness to try new things and be able to think analytically to solve problems - most of the work is logical and follows computational thinking steps.
