Mathematics & Statistics
What will I learn?
Mathematics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in quantities, space, and time.
Statistics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in data.
These two disciplines are related but different ways of thinking and of solving problems. Both equip students with effective means for investigating, interpreting, explaining, and making sense of the world in which they live.
This course is designed to develop students’ mathematical reasoning through algebra, geometry, number and measurement skills. Student's will also develop insight on making good statistical estimates and developing probability skills.
In Year 11 Mathematics students will look to achieve 7 or 8 credits in 2020 and these credits will be at Level 2 (Unless the student is on another pathway).
Student will look to achieve numeracy and gain level 2 Math credits over 2 years.
Students will do two Level 1 Internal Assessment. (Linear Algebra and Right Angled Triangle).
Students will do one Level 1 Internal Assessment. (Students to choose between Questionnaire Design or Graphical Methods).
