Mathematics & Statistics

What will I learn?

Mathematics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in quantities, space, and time.

Statistics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in data.

These two disciplines are related but different ways of thinking and of solving problems. Both will equip students with effective means for investigating, interpreting, explaining, and making sense of the world in which they live.

This course is designed to develop students’ mathematical reasoning through Number, Measurement, Linear algebra, Algebra, and Statistical skills. Student's will also develop insight on making good statistical estimates and developing probability concepts needed for future career choices.

In Year 11 Mathematics students will look to University Entrance Numeracy (10 Credits at Level 1)

MAT11 students are team taught and can choose between Algebra related standards (towards a future Calculus pathway) OR Statistics related standards. Both pathways will help students achieve Numeracy at Level1.
