What should I have already achieved?

Minimum 12 credits in Level 1 DET or TIC approval.

What will I learn?

To express creative ideas using a variety of media while developing a range of skills and methods to communicate design ideas.

The year's core focus will be on Spatial Design. Such spaces can be defined by four walls, but equally they might radiate outwards with few physical boundaries and change with time. In Spatial Design we aim to creatively question the conventions of architecture, interior, landscape, event, performance and urbanism.

How will this course be assessed?

A maximum of 24 credits are offered in this course. AS2.2 and AS2.3 internal standards will be assessed in a workbook format. Internals standards are optional. AS2.4 external standard is a 2 panel folio board or digital folio that is compulsory for all students.

It is recommended that you will submit work totalling 14-18 credits. Work will be developed using a portfolio throughout the year. The external standards are also developed during the year and will be submitted to NZQA in Term 4.

Will there be any FAO? (Further Assessment Opportunities)

No FAOs are offered.

Are there any Pre-requisites for Level 3?

12 credits in Level 2 Design & Visual Communication including 1 external paper, or by the discretion of the teacher in charge of Design & Visual Communication, in consultation with the LA.

What are the course costs?

$40 to cover materials, consumables and a stationery pack.

Additional $10 for Adobe software licence recommended.
