This course is designed to develop students’ statistical and mathematical reasoning through a range of problem-solving techniques and real-world applications. Students will explore and apply methods such as statistical inference, experimental design, questionnaire design, simulations, report writing, and probability modelling.
Through these topics, students will learn to collect and analyse data, interpret results, and communicate findings effectively—building the analytical and critical-thinking skills needed for further study and a variety of career pathways.
It is recommended that you have achieved the Level 1 Statistics Achievement Standards (Multivariate and Bivariate Analysis) in MAT1 in 2025.
To fully participate in this course, access to a personal computing device (such as a laptop or Chromebook) is recommended, as you will be using spreadsheets and online statistical software throughout the year. This software is free to use and does not require any additional cost.
A Casio FX-8200AU Scientific Calculator is also highly recommended, particularly for the Probability Distributions external assessment.
