DRAP - Production
DRAP is for you whether you want to be on-stage in the spotlight or backstage in costume, lighting, set design, props, sound design, special effects, stunt work, make-up and hair, directing, producing, choreography, casting, administration, marketing, social media… the list goes on! Drama students leave school as critical thinkers, socially adept and confident communicators.
In this course you will learn the basic skills needed to devise and present original Drama performance. You will have the freedom to explore your own perspective; to create and present your own work; plus the opportunity to explore a range of roles that are involved in the making of a live Drama production. You will learn how to create and work collaboratively with others, eventually ending with a final live Drama presentation.
What will I learn?
How to devise your own work;
Improvisation;
How to perform confidently in front of live audiences;
Theoretical understanding and physical application of the Drama components including the Drama elements, conventions and technologies.
You may also participate in some of the following learning experiences:
Workshops led by professional leaders in the NZ theatre sector;
Attend professional live theatre tours and shows;
Gain physical skills and theoretical knowledge in different Drama forms. This may include: NZ theatre, Pasifika and Māori theatre, Clowning, Physical Theatre, Elizabethan, Melodrama and more;
Opportunities to connect with diverse people, ideas, cultures and history.
