Level 2 Design & Visual Communication is a studio-based course that develops advanced design thinking and visual communication skills. You’ll work from a design brief, researching contexts, users, and precedents to inform strong design decisions. Using a mix of sketching, modelling, and digital tools (including CAD), you’ll produce high-quality visual outcomes that clearly communicate complex ideas.
The course emphasises conceptual development, spatial thinking, and iterative design, with a strong focus on how ideas are explored, refined, and presented. You’ll take a project from its initial concept through to a resolved final design, building technical precision, visual clarity, and a confident personal design language.
Ideally completing the Design and Visual Communication 1 course
A work ethic and sufficient time management skills to complete a large portfolio over of work over a number of terms.
You will learn a range of skills that develop strong design thinking and visual communication. The course centres around a design brief that will challenge you to explore, test, and refine ideas, building your ability to communicate ideas clearly through visual means. You will expand your understanding of design through iterative development, critical reflection, and the purposeful use of drawing, modelling, and digital tools.
This course will leads onto further study for a wide range of careers; Architecture, Drafter, Landscape designer, and various Engineering pathways.
