The MAT2 course consists of three personalised 14-credit pathways. Standards offered in each pathway are selected from the following standards. See the Year Planner for the different personalised pathway options offered.
What should I have already achieved?
Students should have shown good Algebraic skills in MAT1 in 2022.
What will I learn?
This course is designed to develop students’ mathematical reasoning through algebra, geometry and calculus. This will include co-ordinate geometry, trigonometric relationships, algebraic processes and basic calculus.
How will this course be assessed?
A maximum of 14 NCEA Level 2 credits: You can choose Internals only pathway to gain the 14 credits OR 2 internal assessments worth 7 credits and two external assessments worth 9 credits. Students who passed Level 2 Algebra in 2023 with at least Merit, will be offered the Complex Number Level 3 external standard worth 5 credits.
